The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared the Empatica Health Monitoring Platform for Parkinson's Disease Monitoring under the 510(k) pathway, according to the agency's own premarket notification record, number K260374. The agency's database lists the decision date as August 14, 2026, and classifies the device as a Class II "Transducer, Tremor" product cleared through the Traditional 510(k) route, meaning the clearance rests on a finding of substantial equivalence to devices already on the market rather than on new clinical trial data submitted for this specific review.

The cleared system pairs Empatica's wrist-worn EmbracePlus and EmbraceMini sensors with motor-symptom algorithms the company gained when it acquired PKG Health in October 2025, according to company statements from that time. Those algorithms, drawn from the Personal KinetiGraph system, are intended to produce continuous, objective measures of bradykinesia, dyskinesia, tremor, sleep and medication-taking patterns, which clinicians can review through a linked portal, Empatica said in its August 19, 2026 announcement of the clearance. The same underlying technology received CE mark certification in Europe on January 30, 2026, under the EU's Medical Device Regulation, according to Empatica's own announcement of that certification.

What the clearance does not do is establish, through a new clinical trial, that using the platform changes a patient's diagnosis, medication plan or long-term outcome. The FDA's 510(k) pathway is explicitly built around equivalence to predicate devices, not around proving a new clinical benefit, and the agency's record for this device does not list a clinical study as part of the submission. The company's own material describes the system as a tool to give clinicians and researchers more data, not as a replacement for clinical judgment.
